That... for some reason, makes sense. I mean, most people with normal jobs have their weekends off.

But on the other hand I can't help but feel like they don't even care, because they said "asap", yet "oh boy, weekend. too bad for them because I'm not doing anything till monday!". Wouldn't you feel like this is some kind of joke?

I'm kind of frustrated now that you've said that they may probably be relaxing on their homes instead of trying to fix this asap like they promised.

I kept trying to get ZEN every few hours since this whole thing started and know I get told that they are taking the weekend off?...

I don't know if I want to cry or explode in rage. This speaks a lot for how much they care about the people that play their games.

When you're at work, and your boss gives you a task of a decent size (one that will span several hours) to finish "asap" on a friday, as you're packing up and heading home, when would you complete it?

Would you miss the dinner that your family is preparing for you at home, and stay at the office until 10:00 pm, or would you get to the task as soon as you get to work on monday morning?

Be reasonable, they have lives too.

I guess I just live still a few years back when this whole thing was supposed to be "by gamers, for gamers". Now it's just "by corporations, for customers". It's just a 'job'.
Someone that really understands our position would do their best to fix whatever problem the game may have as soon as possible. Not just drop the whole stuff because it's weekend. What about us?

Who in their right mind would leave a nuclear plant with a major malfunction just because it's a weekend?

This is less about lack of work ethics and more about the corporization of an industry that was all about fun and doing stuff so other people could enjoy it. Now, as I said, it's just a 'job'.

Also, if my boss gave me a task to finish ASAP the same day, I do it the same day. Otherwise I'd probably get either fired or suspended for not doing it. Thankfully I am a freelancer and I establish my own times. But yeah you get my point.

This is the normal life of all IT workers, sad to say. I should know, I'm one of 'em. Actually.. a lot of IT workers even for games are on 24/7 call. I will wager that the people at Valve who run Steam are of that sort - 24/7 on call - something breaks? You HAVE to be in there fixing the server as fast as you can possibly get there... or yer fired.

Yeah, I will often HAVE to say till 10pm or 11pm if something breaks... thankfully 95% of the time I am able to fix it by that time when stuff does break.

I don't wish this on the PWE folk, obviously - this is "just a game" after all.
